Join FLOC at the US Social Forum in Detroit!

FLOC will join with thousands of people from all over the country representing countless communities who are invested in building a cohesive and strategic nationwide movement under the banner "Another World is Possible!" Delegations from our NC and OH offices will be traveling to Detroit on the 22nd. Please let us know if you're interested in coming with us! Below is a schedule of FLOC events throughout the week. June 22nd: US South West and East Coast caravans will be passing through Toledo on their way to Detroit and joining FLOC for a rally to kick off the week's events. Meet the caravans, learn about the issues they are bringing to the Forum, and join us for the rally and march to Government Center. Following the march we will head to Detroit for the opening march of the Social Forum at 3:00pm.

June 23: Join us for a night of music and poetry as Baldemar Velasquez and the Aguila Negra Band join Charlie King and Karen Brandow, Brian Kahoe, Ange Smith, Mike Boucher, Jim Perkinson and others at

June 24: FLOC President Baldemar Velasquez will speak on a panel on "Faith, Labor, and Community Alliances," along with Rev. Nelson Johnson from Beloved Community Center in Greensboro, NC, Bob King from the United Auto Workers, Kim Bobo from Interfaith Worker Justice, and Charles Williams from the American Federation of State, and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO. President Velasquez will also be speaking on the "International Solidarity and Responsibility" panel at 1:00pm.

June 25: Join us for the Faith, Labor, and Community March and Action at JP Morgan Chase! Thousands of FLOC supporters and allies will gather outside of Chase bank to protest the financial giant's complicity in the abuse of thousands of tobacco farmworkers. As one of the largest investors in Reynolds American tobacco company, Chase has the power to pressure Reynolds to meet with FLOC and end the exploitation in NC tobacco fields. Allies from various organizations will also be joining us to demand that Chase support economic justice and put a stop to home foreclosures.
