FLOC Marches with
UMWA Seeking Justice in Appalachian Coal Mines

On May 18th, a delegation of FLOC members and activists traveled to Richmond, VA to march with our brothers, the United Mine Workers of America, in their struggle for justice. 29 mine workers died in an explosion last month after Massey Energy repeatedly violated safety standards. The United Mine Workers of America has called for the resignation of CEO Don Blankenship in the midst of the worst mine disaster in forty years.

Over a thousand people marched from a city park to the hotel where the Massey Energy Shareholders Meeting was taking place. In a true show of solidarity, union members and supporters from all over the east coast were present supporting the UMWA in their fight for justice. FLOC stands firmly with its brothers in the union movement against all forms of corporate irresponsibility that put profits over the lives of people.
