Walk with FLOC
in the Pilgrimage for Peace and Justice
March 31, 2010

For over 20 years, a coalition of religious groups from all over North Carolina have marched together during Holy Week in the Pilgrimage for Peace and Justice.  Core walkers along with over 50 sponsoring organizations in 5 different cities walk together to support and promote issues such as immigration reform, worker's rights, fair trade policies, ending the death penalty, ending inhumane detention policies, and justice for farmworkers.

This year the Pilgrimage will again focus on promoting fair trade policies, immigrant rights, and justice for farmworkers. On March 31, Pilgrimage participants and FLOC supporters will march together from Tobaccoville, NC, where Reynolds American's tobacco processing plant is located, to downtown Winston Salem, where Reynolds headquarters are located.  The 15 mile walk is symbolic of the many marches that farmworkers and supporters walked in the past, and the difficult and dangerous work that farmworkers still face every day.  Along the route we will celebrate past victories and leaders and celebrate Cesar Chavez's birthday.

Want to walk with us? Contact Justin Flores at 919-731-4433 or jflores@floc.com.  If you are not able to walk the whole route, we will have support vehicles to assist people along the way.
