We need widespread community support to continue to build momentum behind our campaigns, spread awareness about farmworkers issues, and support farmworkers in their struggle for fair living and working conditions. One of the most influential factors in all of FLOC's campaigns has been the massive numbers of community organizations, religious groups, and individuals that have been involved.  People all over the country have organized in their communities to promote FLOC events, helped with fundraising, volunteered, and helped in many other ways to raise awareness about FLOC's work.

Volunteer With FLOC

FLOC operates on limited staff and resources. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting our campaigns and organizing efforts.

We are always in need of motivated and hard working volunteers who have an interest in social justice issues and ending racism and discrimination.  We are looking for a wide variety of skills and abilities, and offer a lot of different ways that volunteers can contribute.

Some of the skills we need include:

  • Clerical (word processing, data entry, etc.)
  • Technology (databases, publishing software, web and listserves, etc.)
  • Translation and interpreting (particularly English-Spanish and Spanish-English)
Translation needs include documents, helping members deal with service agencies, supporting medical, dental, and legal clinics, etc.
  • Writing (progress reports, publicity materials, explanatory materials on migrant and immigrant worker issues, etc.)
  • Press (building relations with reporters, producing materials for press packets, etc.)
  • Fundraising (grants, donor campaigns, etc.)
  • Education and training curriculums, materials, and techniques
This includes programs to train farmworkers and immigrants on their rights, public education about FLOC and the Immigrant Rights Movement, etc.
  • Health care with our medical and dental clinics
  • Research on migrant and immigrant worker issues
  • Driving members to meetings, training sessions, etc.

We especially need volunteers in Ohio, North Carolina, and Mexico. To volunteer, please contact us.
